My Cousins sweet little girl turned 5 this week and she wanted a mermaid cake. I found this idea on Cake Central and I just fell in love with it. If you follow any of my posts you probably know I hate sugar modeling though. There was a little bit involved but for 2 of the main figures I reverted to hand painting. I just feel it gives me a medium to make more realistic figures and in a way that I enjoy. I was very happy with my interpretation of this cake. And more importantly, so was the Birthday Girl.
