Lily of the Valley Tutorial

Lily of the Valley Tutorial

Lily of the Valley is one of my favourite flowers.  I love it so much I choose it as my bridal bouquet.

It is a popular wedding flower and can be used on its own as well as a filler in larger arrangements.  And it is realitively simple to make.

Materials Needed

24 guage white wire
30 guage white wire
White floral tape
Wire Cutters
Pliers
Blossom Tints, Spring Green, Primrose, Foilage Green

Cut 3 30 guage wires in 5ths so that you have 15 small wires

Bend a small hook at the end of each wire

Roll 15 balls of paste in various sizes ranging from very small to largest being about the size of a pea.  I've placed a pea in my photo for you as a size guide.

Dip the hook of the wire in glue and thread onto the ball of paste.

Seperate the 7 smallest buds and set aside.

For the 8 larger buds to create open blossoms, roll out some white paste (do not use corn flour as this may prevent the paste adhering when you go to attach it to the blossom).

Cut out a shape using the Flower Blossom Plunger Cutter. I've used the small and medium cutters for the blossoms.

Pick up the cut out with the cutter and press gently onto the ball of paste to form the open blossom.

Cut a 24 guage white wire in half. Begin taping the buds to the wire using white floral tape.  Start by taping the smallest bud on the top of the wire and work your way down.  Buds should be taped in pairs working down the wire.  All should face the same direction.

Using your pliers bend each bud and bend a curve into the main stem.  All buds should be bent facing the same direction.

Dust the stem with Spring Green and tiny amount of Primrose and Foilage Green.  Let the dust fall more heavily on the tops of the small buds and very little on the large blossoms.
